Does mosquito fogging work in Bali?
Short answer: Yes, but only for a short time. Fogging kills the adult mosquitoes that are flying when it is applied. It does not remove breeding sites or kill larvae, so mosquitoes come back unless you also deal with standing water.

What fogging does and does not do
Thermal fogging and ULV misting put a fine insecticide cloud into the air. Adult mosquitoes that touch it die within minutes. That gives quick relief for a party, a villa stay or a restaurant terrace.
The effect is temporary. New mosquitoes hatch from nearby water and fly in, and fogging does nothing to eggs or larvae sitting in water.
Why Bali needs more than fogging
Bali is warm and humid all year, and rain fills drains, plant saucers, buckets, bamboo stumps and ponds. Aedes mosquitoes, which spread dengue, breed in small containers around homes and bite during the day.
The most reliable approach combines three steps: remove or treat standing water, apply larvicide where water cannot be removed, and fog to knock down the adults.
How often should you fog?
For villas and homes, every 3 to 4 weeks in the wet season and every 6 to 8 weeks in the dry season is a common schedule. Restaurants and hotels with outdoor seating often fog more often. Your garden, nearby rice fields and canals change the right interval, so a quick inspection helps.
What you can do between treatments
Empty containers weekly, clear blocked drains and gutters, change water in bowls and vases, and keep ponds stocked with fish or treated. Screens on windows and doors reduce bites indoors.
